Clergy Boundaries Training

Boundary Training Compliance for Minister Members

The Commission on Ministry reminds all Teaching Elders that boundary training is required every two years for all Olympia Presbytery minister members. At this time, COM recommends two options, outlined below. If you wish to propose another option, reach out to one of the COM co-moderators or the Stated Clerk. Finally, it is the responsibility of all active minister members to track and report their compliance to the Stated Clerk. Email: StatedClerk@olypres.org.

Not-Your-Average Boundaries Training

This training is offered by LeaderWise. Olympia Presbytery attendees feedback has described this boundary training as lively, reflective, engaging, conversational, and at the end of day it caused many of them to re-evaluate some of their own practices.

This training is 6 total hours typically split over 2 consecutive days (3 hours sessions each day). Following the first session, participants are asked to engage in a bit of reflection work in preparation for the second session. This online boundaries training will be conducted via secure Zoom video conferencing.

This training is offered online synchronously (you can do it any time you wish). The training is self paced and may be completed in multiple session if needed. Most say it takes about 2 hours. Olympia Presbytery attendees have offered positive feedback. The Training Fee is typically $29. If you wish to complete a different training course, reach out to the Stated Clerk or one of the COM co-moderators to explore the possibility.

Finally, remember it is your responsibility to submit a copy of their boundary training completion certificate every two years to the stated clerk.

"I recently completed the Leaderwise online Boundary Training course, conducted over two consecutive days, 3 hours each day. The sessions were live and very well attended. There were many opportunities for feedback, but it was much easier to provide feedback during the smaller breakout sessions."
-Liz Hylton, Ocean Beach Presbyterian Church.

"I took the online boundary training from Safe Gatherings. I felt as though it covered all of the basics in an effective way and was finished in a couple of hours. I was able to fit it in to my schedule."
-Rev. Tammy Stampfli, Validated Ministry

PLEASE NOTE: At the regular stated meeting of our Presbytery in February of 2025, we will publish a list of those who do not have a current certificate of boundary training on file with the stated clerk.
