*The Drama of Rehabilitation

The Dale & Leone Turner Lecture Series of University
Congregational United Church of Christ presents Walter Brueggemann,
"The Drama of Rehabilitation." The lecture on Friday, April 9th
will be from 7- 8:30pm. and is titled, "The Descent into Truth." The
lecture on Saturday, April 10th is from 9 am- 12 noon and is titled, "The
Ascent into Hope."
Walter Brueggemann is the William Marcellus McPheeters Professor Emeritus of
Old Testament at Columbia Theological Seminary. He also is an Ordained United
Church of Christ Minister. Dr. Brueggemann is the author of Prayers for a
Privileged People, Mandate to Difference: An Invitation to the Contemporary Church, and The Word Militant:
Preaching a Decentering Word. Described as "provocative, interesting,
challenging and imaginative," Walter Brueggemann has written 58 books,
hundreds of articles and several commentaries on books of the Bible. Dr.
Brueggemann will be speaking on the book of Psalms, the "original recovery
program."
Tickets for both events before April 2nd are $40; $45 after April 2nd. Friday
evening only is $15. UCC Ministers and students pay $20 for Friday and

Join the Adopt-a-Stream Foundation and the Snohomish County Parks
& Recreation for a walk in the woods and native plant gardens around the NW
Stream Center. Naturalist Tom Noland will teach you how to identify native
plants you are likely to encounter in the area -- perhaps even in your own back
yard. Learn why native plant buffers are critical to salmon and wildlife
habitat, and how Native Americans made use of plants for building materials,
food, and medicine. Grade 1 to Adult. Tickets are $5 for members and $7 for

*Ignatian Eco-Spirituality Series

creation? Join Christine Paintner & Joseph Carver, SJ for a five-session
program where we learn to pray through the sacred elements of water, wind,
earth, and fire. The Hebrew and Christian scriptures and the writings of the
mystics will be our guide and our prayer forms will be adapted from the rich
resources of Ignatian tradition. Each session includes prayer practices, input,
time for reflection, sharing in large and small groups, and handouts to guide
your prayer between sessions and deepen your connection to nature through
ancient wisdom.

*Taize Prayer Service for Climate
Protection

On April 23rd, the Friday
evening Taize prayer service at St. James Cathedral will be a special vigil for
climate action and climate protection. Hosted by the St. James Catholic
Cathedral, this is an ecumenical service co-sponsored by St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral
and Earth Ministry/Washington Interfaith Power & Light. A reception and
