A Note From the Task Force

After much prayer, conversation, and consultation the Olympia Presbytery Futures Task Force is pleased to release a survey. The survey will serve the FTF primarily as a way to gain information for our presbytery’s process of discerning and recommending the future focus and shape of the Olympia Presbytery with the secondary function of engaging people in this process (and being a catalyst for discussion). Otherwise, the survey will be used as a road into the future and not as the answers to our future.
The survey will “test” the three core roles of presbytery as identified by the FTF and presented at the May presbytery meeting:
a. Foster relationships among congregations and among Ministers of Word and Sacrament.
b. Facilitate faithfulness to the polity as expressed in the Presbyterian Book of Order.
c. Shape and encourage a missional focus in our congregations.
The survey can be completed in about 15 minutes. There are “open-ended” questions for those who choose to spend more time on the survey. While the survey can be electronically completed in one sitting, you have the option to “save” your survey and complete it at a later time.
The survey is designed for individual response, but congregations/sessions/pastors may choose to organize conversations around the completion of the survey.
The final date for completion of the survey is Sunday, August 16, 2009. The survey will not be available after that date. The FTF will present the results of the survey at the September 17, 2009 presbytery meeting.
The FTF thanks you for your prayerful approach to this survey. We are excited to have this conversation about the future shape and focus of the Olympia Presbytery. The FTF hopes that through this survey the voices from every member of every session of the 50 member churches and 2 affiliate churches in the Presbytery will be heard.
